How to Mine Firo with FiroPoW

Complete guide to mining Firo using GPU hardware

Overview

Firo utilizes GPU mining through the FiroPoW algorithm, a modified version of ProgPoW 0.9.4 designed to prevent ASIC and FPGA dominance. The system requires 8GB VRAM minimum and targets accessibility for modern GPUs.

Minimum Requirements

  • GPU with at least 8GB VRAM
  • Valid Firo wallet address
  • Stable internet connection

Prerequisites

Before You Start:

  • Download a Firo wallet from official sources and sync with the network
  • Obtain a valid Firo wallet address for receiving mining payouts
  • NEVER mine directly to exchange-controlled addresses

Step 1: Miner Selection

Choose from several available mining software options based on your hardware:

TeamBlackMiner (Recommended)

Platform: Nvidia/AMD

Type: Closed source

Fee: 0.5%

SRBMiner-Multi

Platform: Nvidia/AMD

Type: Closed source

Fee: 0.85%

Reference Miner

Platform: Nvidia/AMD (AMD limitations)

Type: Open source

Fee: 0% (No fee)

GMiner

Platform: Nvidia/AMD

Type: Closed source

Fee: 1%

Team Red Miner

Platform: AMD only

Type: Closed source

Fee: 2%

Extract the executable binary to a designated folder after downloading.

Step 2: Pool Registration

Select a mining pool to join. Notable pools include:

Available Pools:

  • Cedric-Crispin
  • EthCore
  • Rplant
  • WoolyPooly
  • Kriptokyng

Spark Address Support

Currently, Cedric-Crispin is the only pool with Spark Address payout support. Most pools require your Firo address as username and worker details without formal registration.

Step 3: Miner Configuration

Create .bat files (Windows) or .sh files (Linux) with appropriate stratum commands based on your selected miner and pool combination.

Example configuration:

miner.exe -a firopow -o stratum+tcp://pool-address:port -u YOUR_WALLET_ADDRESS -p c=FIRO

Solo Mining

For solo mining, configure firo.conf with RPC credentials and restart your wallet. Solo mining is only recommended for users with significant hash power.

Step 4: Launch and Monitor

Execute your batch file and monitor for:

Accepted Shares

Your mining software should show accepted shares

i

Hashrate Statistics

Allow several minutes for network propagation of hashrate statistics

!

Temperature Monitoring

Keep an eye on GPU temperatures to ensure safe operation
